Representative Nancy Pelosi, the House Democratic leader, has resumed her activities in Rome after being briefly hospitalized on Monday.
Ms. Pelosi, a Democrat from California and an Italian-American, fell ill Monday while traveling with a Congressional delegation invited to Rome to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy.
“After several flights yesterday in Afghanistan, and a long flight back to Italy that arrived early this morning, Leader Pelosi was not feeling well,” said Nadeam Elshami, her spokesman. “This morning in Rome, the leader was advised to visit a clinic, and the closest medical facility was a hospital. The leader is now resuming her schedule in Italy.”
Mr. Elshami did not provide additional details.
After she was released from the hospital, Ms. Pelosi said on Twitter: “Thanks to everyone for your well wishes had a very productive trip to Afghanistan and am in Italy resuming meetings now.”
Ms. Pelosi, who turns 71 on Saturday, flew to Kabul over the weekend with a bipartisan group of lawmakers for an unannounced visit to meet with President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan and American officials.
The delegation was scheduled to attend a concert Monday afternoon in the Italian Parliament as part of the anniversary celebrations.

Forty-seven years later, it all seems [...]
